30-Day Scripture Writing Plan for Grief
One verse a day, copied slowly by hand. Some days that will be all you can do, and it is enough.
Here is why women keep coming back to scripture writing in a hard season. Reading a verse can be quick, and on a grieving day it goes straight past you. Copying it by hand makes you spend longer with each word. That slower attention is the point.
This plan does not ask you to feel anything. It does not tell you how long grief lasts, and it will not be finished with you on day 30. It is thirty passages chosen to read slowly during grief, in the order it seemed kindest to meet them. They come from different settings, so let each verse say what it says before you apply it to your own loss.
How to use it
- Print the sheet below and keep it in a notebook. Each day, look up the verse and copy it out by hand, then check the box.
- Use whatever Bible you love. In the Lily app the whole Bible is free to read (BSB and KJV), so your phone works too.
- Miss a day? Just do the next one. Miss a week? The plan waits. This is a gift, not a graded assignment.
- Some of these verses are hard. Days 8, 15 and 29 are people telling God how bad it is. They are in here on purpose, because they are in the Bible on purpose.
- Days 5 and 6 can sound like a promise that things get better on a schedule. They are not. Mercies new every morning is a promise about who God is, not a promise about how you will feel tomorrow. Comfort for those who mourn does not come with a date attached to it.

When you get to day 30
Day 30 is not a finish line. If you get there and the grief is exactly where it was, nothing has gone wrong. Start again at day 1, or stay on one verse for a week, or put the sheet in a drawer until you want it. The verses will keep.
If you want to sit with this longer
The same care, in a four-week study you can print at home. It puts no timeline on your grief either.
